Legal Tech Monitor 2025: The German legal tech market at a glance
Digitalisation is shaping the legal market like never before, and the new Legal Tech Monitor 2025 provides comprehensive insights into this dynamic industry. The report provides in-depth data on market volume, innovation drivers and challenges in an increasingly technology-driven environment.
The Legal Tech Monitor 2025 was created on the initiative of the German Legal Tech Association in cooperation with the publishing house C.H.Beck, the Bucerius Center on the Legal Profession und the Legal Tech Colab. Over 300 survey participants and 40 experts contributed to the in-depth findings. Dr Marco Buschmann, former Federal Minister of Justice, and the Bavarian State Minister of Justice, Georg Eisenreich, also support the study with introductory remarks.
The most important findings at a glance
- Capital requirements and financing: Start-ups are increasingly looking for external capital, especially for AI investments. Successful financing rounds, such as Bryter’s Series B with 66 million euros, prove the growth potential.
- Growing Market: With around 300 active companies and up to 10,000 employees, the German legal tech market is no longer a niche market.
- AI as a key technology: Over 80% of providers use artificial intelligence, especially in areas such as document analysis and generation. International solutions dominate, but German projects also show potential.
- Regulatory challenges: German and European regulations present obstacles to innovation, but also offer opportunities for reform and modernisation.
- Shortage of skilled labour: The industry is urgently looking for interdisciplinary talent. Modern workplace models make legal tech companies attractive to applicants.
The study will be published regularly in future and serve as a guide for law firms, companies and the judiciary.
