JUVE Legal Operations Conference

Date: June 13rd and 14th, place: Cologne

LTC start-up panel at the Legal Operations Conference 2024 on the topic of ‘Success stories from the LTC: How start-ups with AI make both CFO & users happy’

Also at the Legal Operations Conference organized by JUVE Verlag in Cologne, Legal Tech Colab was represented by our team. Our founders Jeremias Bura of lextract, Maximilian Reinhard of Legalian, Tim Kniepkamp of Suitcase, and Viktor von Essen of Libra were also present to actively shape the opportunities and future of the legal industry.

Highlights and Activities

  • Successful Presentation of Our Startups
The conference offered an excellent platform for our start-ups to introduce themselves, connect, and engage with key players in the Legal Operations world. Through our participation, we were able to build valuable connections and discover exciting new players in the Legal Tech field, opening access to essential resources and strengthening our network.
  • Artificial Intelligence in Focus
A major topic at the conference was artificial intelligence (AI), which is increasingly impacting the legal industry. Particularly interesting was the strong interest in Microsoft’s Copilot and its integration into Office 365, though many legal professionals in Germany are still weighing how closely they want to rely on a single solution. Jutta Löwe of the Federal Association of Corporate Lawyers e.V. (BUJ) critically questioned this dependency, sparking a valuable discussion that could shape the future of AI in the legal field.
  • Engaging Presentations and Discussions
The numerous presentations and panels provided insights into current topics like genAI, Humans-in-the-Loop, new compensation models, and the practical application of AI in daily legal work. Especially inspiring were the presentations on GenAI-enabled Legal Services, which showcased new opportunities AI brings to legal services, along with the engaging discussions on the benefits and risks of AI.
  • Networking in a Professional Atmosphere
The conference provided us with an excellent opportunity to make new connections in a welcoming yet professional environment. JUVE Verlag deserves high praise for the first-class organization and quality event format, which fosters exchange between startups and industry experts.

Key Takeaways

  • Opportunities for Startup Presentations: The conference gave us the chance to increase visibility for our start-ups and make new connections.
  • AI in Everyday Legal Work: The presentations and discussions on AI’s role in the legal industry highlighted its great potential, along with the challenges that come with it.
  • Networking: The pleasant yet professional atmosphere enabled us to establish numerous valuable contacts with experts and partners.
